I use to love documentaries. I grew up watching them and thought I was learning history. The problem, of course, is that images tell us nothing unless it is explained to us. This is why Palestinians cheered 9-11 while we cried. The most profound artist of this criteria is the legendary founder of NFL films Steve Sabol. If he had taken his art to the political level we don't know what he would have achieved.

Ms. Reifenstahl's "Triumph of the Will" brought Mr. Hitler to the big screen. It made him real and made her a star, albeit a Nazi star.

Television is not educational if it only indoctrinates. Wonderful as a film may be as "art" it has a tendency to preach. There are many series I came to cherish including Ken Burns "Civil War" and Juan Williams "Eyes on the Prize" but they cannot be the last word. The uncritical will mistake the series for history itself.

Stanley Karnow's "Ten Thousand Day War" a many part PBS series about Vietnam goes well out of its way to tell us, why America was so wrong. It literally created an image in them mind that portrays the United States as bafoons in the Cold War. The image is played out in nearly every high school and literally poisons them against America. Thank goodness that education is deficient.

Documentaries of the sort by Michael Moore is overplayed satire to to the most silly passes for truth. A video with narration, without actors seems to be all that is required to be a documentary.

Pacifists are Dangerous

There are those who may argue for or against military engagement. This is a legitimate conflict and history normally vindicates the hawk, after the humiliation of the dove.

Pacifists is worse since they do not even acknowledge the danger of an aggressive enemy. This is therapy run amok. Pacifist are on record as a very large factor in the aggression of nations and has done nothing when it comes to promoting peace. They actually encourage dangerous people to do harm. Any child knows that there are bullies and they pick on the weak. Bullies are detoured by adults and by children who stand-up to them. Children who give up their lunch money to bullies encourage threat and intimidation. Pacifists are kids who give up their lunch money and then say it was because the bully needed lunch also.

Pacifist cling to the fuzzy feeling that if they can "good vibe" peace simply by convincing their friends to think "peace." Conflict fostered by evil persons, normally for "corporate" greed. Pacifists, in the latter half of the 20th century were communist stooges and the Kremlin well documented it.

C.S. Lewis wrote the following in relation to WWII :"...I think many would now agree that a foreign policy dominated by desire for peace is one of the many roads that lead to war. "

Soccer is the Devil

The argument has never been articulated but the real enemy and of liberals is that last bastion of male chauvinism: American Football. The proof of this conspiracy is the fact that soccer is so ruthlessly foisted upon the American male child. The sports bra stunt, briefly brought notoriety but faded as rapidly as what's her name. Thankfully, their efforts have been about as successful as smoking teen smoking. Professional soccer is as much a loser as WBA, which itself requires NBA invenstment. The general reason for soccers failure in America is that the game is inherently chaotic, lacks primal brutal masculinity and has a foreigness which makes it suspect. I will predict that when soccer becomes the dominate sport in America we will briefly be European and then face Mecca in prayer.

Open season on Jews and Amercans

Speilberg's movie, Munich has not made anyone happy, especially in the Jewish community. The gist of the movie is how the Mossad dealt with the perpetrators of the '72 Olympic massacre.

Germans, it seems haven't lost their touch when it comes to dealing with people wno live to kill Jews. Please consider the release of one Susanne Osthoff, 43 kidnapped in Iraq. She was released today and MSNBC reports:

"The German government denied her freedom was linked to Berlin’s release of a Hizbollah member jailed for life in 1985 for the murder of a U.S. Navy diver."

Comedians lead Liberals

Al Franken, Jeanine (sp) Garafolo, Bill Maher and Jerry Springer are all comedians and all talk show hosts for the liberal cause. Is this what the Left really wants itself to be; wisecracking entertainers? They are actually the most articulate voices of the left. They want to make you laugh. In government they want you to wring your hands and cry.

No Silver Bullets for "W" Haters.

The "Haters of W" have long sought a silver bullet for to end their nightmare. All the digging, dreaming and conjecturing they've done all yeilded naught. How much more ammo do they need, He's even given them a war for WMD (without finding WMD) , the Patriot Act, Abu Gharib, Guantanomo and still they have nothing. A good deal of the silver bullet issue is that these "Haters " continue to believe that silver bullets and smoking gun audit trails exist in the world of hyper spin and hence, hyper spin fatique. The world created by spinmasters has essentially eroded the notion of evidence altogether including the empiricism, witnesses or documentation. The gas chambers of Aushwitz are not proof of the Holocaust happened and Bill Clinton's DNA on a blue dress was not sufficient to label a man as too sleazy for public office. The Haters have not succeeded in eroding "W's" support because the Haters weapons only infuriate the supporters but provide no proof of grand conspiracies they imagined they found with Mr. Nixon.

This is a terrible last hurrah to those who believed they ended an unjust war in Asia and brought down an imperial President.

A Graduation

Millions of young people, like the hundred from my school, graduate and after a night of revelry face the remainder of their lives. They will face it alone and they know it. All the tom foolery in class and hallways come to naught and they will now reap what they have sown. The teen years for both boys and girls is that confusing time when they don't quite know where there thoughts end and someone else's start. Graduation changes all of that and they are on their own.

Expectations

MSNBC mindlessly reporting a post from AP "Future is bright for this year's MBA grads." The post had nothing what so ever to do with jobs or salary offers. The post was about what grads expected to make. Their source was the Graduate Management Admission Council, which is an organization of business schools. A bias? The expectation this year was $84K as compared to $76K a year ago. At this point only 44% had offers, even though some had spent as much as $100K on their educations. There was nothing to verify the reality that these MBA's were getting anywhere. The post did have one disclaimer, which was that some scholarly articles said that business schools didn't teach any useful skills.
